I added to the timetable two classes, Biology and Economy (each class has its courses). Created the timetable days for each class, created a standard periods’ structure that will be used for all classes and days, inserted courses to periods, and linked classrooms to courses (each class will study all the courses in the same class).
The images below explain the detailed structure of both classes on Monday, and it is the same for the other days.
From there on, tried to tie-days-to-dates, but it is not working. Sometimes I see the periods but without the classes in timetable calendar, other times it is just blank.
Great screenshots, it certainly helps to see what you have setup because the timetables have so many working parts.
From what I can see, it looks like you’ve created separate Timetable Days for each course and each day (screenshot 2). This may be where things have gone awry. Generally, a school would have one timetable day per weekday (depending on your school structure), or for schools with A and B days, you might have Monday A, Monday B, etc.
Your timetable columns look good, you may just need to edit & delete your excess Timetable Days. From there you would assign your classes (Bio and Econ) to the periods that they run for each day. Then, you can use the Tie Days to Dates for those timetable days. Often you can use the checkbox at the top of the column to select all Mondays and assign the same Monday timetable day to it.
The timetable is certainly complicated (yet flexible, which is the goal!). If you’re still stuck, it may help to install a test copy of the system with demo data (or try the Softalicious demo from the download page) to see how the timetable works in a fully setup system.
Hope this helps! Give a shout with any questions as you get setup.
Thank you for the very useful explanation. I cloned the TT of the demo, but looking at the planner there, I can see where it went wrong.
I am creating the timetable as an admin and usually on each period/day (Say period1 on Mondays) the school usually runs many courses for different majors in different classrooms.
For example: EN-Bio, Classroom 1.
MA-Eco, classroom 2
When I add that on the same day of one timetable days, then tie both EN-Bio and MA-Eco to Monday, it doesn’t work.
But maybe, out of all the different attempts I did, I did this one wrong, I will try it again and see.
Thanks again, I will disturb you again if this didn’t work:)
Best of luck, give a shout if you get stuck. To start with, try Tie Days to Dates with only one timetable day per weekday (eg: timetable day called Monday tied to each Monday), then schedule each of the courses into the timetable day for their respective periods. This should give you a working timetable. From there if you need to add complexity (alternating days, etc.) you’ll have a solid starting point.
hi just to chime in. If we have a standard weekday where lessons are being held hourly, except for Sundays, would we be able to create one timetable day called work, and tie it to each weekday in the timetable?
Yep, if each weekday has the exact same classes scheduled, you could likely re-use the same Timetable Day and tie it to each day. Otherwise, you could re-use the same Timetable Column and use it to setup one timetable day per weekday, that way they match the same timing structure but can have different classes scheduled each day.
