Timetable Column Row names uniqueness

From Home > Timetable Admin > Manage Columns > Edit Column > Add Column Row

I want to understand the significance of:

Name *
Must be unique for this school year.

Short Name *
Must be unique for this school year.

Question: For different timetables, can/should I use names: Period1, P1 safely across different timetables?

Hi Tieku, this is odd, as columns are not linked to school years. On investigation I’ve found that the label is incorrect, and should say “Must be unique for this column.”. I’ve fixed this in v25:

Your instinct that Period 1/P1 are safe to use is correct!

This is some of the oldest code in Gibbon, and so I’m surprised no one has spotted this before. Thanks for helping us improve things.
