Hi Ross, I was in discussion with a school principal today and one of the main ingredients they would like to have is the ability to do a teacher analysis and s subject by subject analysis. Is this something that can be done in Gibbon presently or is on your todo list?
Ross, might i also add performance comparison among cohort.
Willpro,
It depends exactly how you want to do it. You could use a combination of information from the Tracking module, and Query Builder to build something of your own here.
I do not plan to build anything like this as I am really against teacher performance tracking (for many of the same reasons that I am against student performance tracking). If you want to learn more about why this issue can be tackled in other ways, John Tomsett’s book this Much I Know Is True is an interesting place to start. It takes the premise that all teachers need to improve all the time…but corporate style performance management is not the way to go about it.
At any rate, if you want to build something along these lines, you could do it as an additional module.
Cheers,
Ross
Ross could you expound further on the tracking module?
Willpro,
Yes, the Tracking module has two parts:
- Graphing - plots Markbook and Internal Assessment results for individual and multiple students, giving a visual track of progress in different subjects.
- Data Points - exports set data to Excel for further analysis.
Thanks,
Ross
Hi Ross,
The Query Builder is currently offered courtesy free for 1 year which i am really appreciative, are you planning to charge for it and if so any idea of the cost?
Hi Ross,
Any answer to the above?
Willpro,
Most likely we will not charge for it in the coming 2-3 years. And most likely, when we do charge for it, it will not be expensive, and their will be variable pricing based on country and school type that it is being used in (e.g. cheaper in developing nations and for non-fee paying schools.
I would imagine the charge being somewhere between USD $50 and $200 depending on the factor listed above, just as a rough guess.
Ross
Thanks much. Greatly appreciate the use.
