What is the password for root

There is no one “root” password, as it really depends on your server software setup, whether you’re running something locally such as MAMP or remotely on a LAMP-style server. If you do happen to be running MAMP, the defaults are generally localhost with a username of root and a password of root. On any other server, this will depend on the user credentials that were set when the server was setup. If you have a hosting service, they will have to provide you with those credentials.
