Hi there.
We use messenger to send email to parents.
Both parents get email. Works great.
But is it possible to set that only primary contact (one parent) get email…not both?
Thanks
Hi @calx Are you looking to send to only one primary contact for all messages sent via messenger, or just certain families? If it’s the latter, for any family where you only want to use one contact email, you can set the second parent as contact priority 3 rather than 2, and it will not email them from Messenger.
However, if you’re looking for this to be system-wide, then it’d require code changes and likely the addition of a new setting in the core, which would be a new feature request. At the moment, we don’t quite have the capacity to take on new features, but can offer guidance should someone want to contribute a change like this to the core.
Another option is to run an SQL command to change all your contact priority 2 parents to 3, which would solve the problem in the interim, but would need applied to any new parents as well.
Thanks for your replay Sandra.
Basically i am looking to send to only one primary contact for all messages sent via messenger.
Main reason is to cut down emails we send.
We are on shared hosting and have a limit of 50 emails per hour.
Will be possible to set send limit per hour…or pause after certain amount of emails sent?
any idea suggestion please.
Thank you
Hmm, there aren’t limits in place for this, as school communications are an essential feature and not ideal to limit, and there are also messages sent from other areas of Gibbon to consider.
One thing to look at may be to use the Gmail SMTP relay, which is an SMTP server that can send a lot more messages (up to around 2000 per day generally without issue). There are also paid SMTP services, see the post here for more info: Important update for Gmail SMTP Relay through Google - #2 by sandra
