This is a great software, awesome job! I was wondering how can I enable the possibility to use the Messenger module so parents can messages teachers and vice-versa through it.

Currently, the messenger module isn’t enabled for parent-initiated messaging. However, parents can easily contact teachers by finding their email addresses within their child’s profile. Similarly, teachers can use a student’s profile information to obtain parent contact details for individual communication. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the prompt reply, I appreciate it! I understand, thanks for the clarification. This is an important feature for us to have as we like to keep all “formal” communications under one umbrella platform, so might be a deal breaker unless our IT team can work around a custom module for that.

Hi Carlos. I can appreciate your school may have those requirements. Fully-featured messaging applications are full pieces of software in their own regards, and often require suites of mobile apps to support them. The scale of programming required for those types of apps are beyond what is possible in a free and open source solution made by a small team. At the end of the day, Gibbon cannot replicate every piece of software a school might need. Many of the messaging apps people commonly use are made by the big multi-billion dollar corporations, and when using them, its easy to take for granted the amount of programmers and capacity those platforms have.
