Not clear how to setup specific classes and courses

Hi!

We are still struggling to set up the specific classes (defining the interval and time for it and showing up on the teachers time table) and I’m not sure if we have a general problem in our setup.

I created an overview about the progression in our school:

I’m trying to mirror this into Gibbon. Attached our present setup:

The problem is, as I see it, the ‘Courses & Classes’ do not mirror our ‘Homerooms’ i.e. our Courses and I can’t create those under ‘Admin → Timetable Admin → Manage Courses & Classes’.

I’m unable to find comprehensive documentation for this step:

Or am I at the wrong spot?

Thanks for any feedback on our setup!

Hi @Xavier_Bit

Since you are not using Gibbon in a standard school way, some of the features require some manual work and changes. In your case, for the courses and classes, I think you have the create the course and classes first and then manually sync them to the Homerooms. However, once you successfully sync them at the start you can use the rollover feature in Gibbon to update it next semester/year. Hopefully that can help you to setup classes.

Hi @Ali,

I understand what you mean, but I have no clue how to do this in reverse.

I’m looking at the ‘Admin → Timetable Admin → Sync Course Enrollment’ screen, which would probably be the right place, but I can’t figure out how to connect specific classes to the according Homeroom.

Can you please guide me a little bit more?

Edit:
I mirrored all the Homerooms to Courses & Classes:

If I try to use Sync Course Enrollment, this happens (short clip from my dashboard):

And even after that, the courses do not show on the students screen:

Well… I found the solution to my problem. This post

explains how to tie the classes to specific courses and I could assign it to a student. Why those curses have to be filled in manually is not clear to me but I somehow got it working.

I’m really unsure though if that’s the correct way to go about it, as the above mentioned post asks for ‘different’ classes in one course, which wouldn’t be the case for us. There is just one class in each course.
