I would like to be able to be on a student’s page and from that page have the option to click one of two message icons - the first taking me to an automatic message to the family’s email, and the second creating a post on the student’s message wall.
Is this already an option that I have overlooked?
I think this would reduce steps for teachers who are reviewing student information prior to reaching out to a family, and it would also provide an extra navigation feature and streamlined message process with fewer options for teachers who are not clear on how to use the messaging feature.
Thanks for your feature request. It may be helpful to note that the Gibbon Messenger system isn’t necessarily designed to replace all email for your school, but rather offers a method for broadcasting messages to groups within your system, such as classes, form groups, activities, etc. Contacting a single parent or a single family is generally still best done by regular email, where teachers have a threaded conversational view.
Message Wall is similarly a broadcast tool for groups of students and parents, rather than targeting a single student. There is a “New Quick Message Wall” option, which lets a teacher quickly add a message for the whole school to see.
