Minor Errors with V30 Features

Good day et al,

I have updated to v30 and bar the initial deletion of my backed up MYSQL5 database before conversion to MYSQL8, everything seems to be going well. The issues I have come across are:

· Staff Info and Website Feed dashboard tabs - hook error.

· The ATL module not working - those escaping gibbons.

· The Student Alerts module not installing- folder name/manifest file error.

No big issues for me, so we will see what a new term brings.

On a separate note, I liaised with Andy Statham in the past to add a multi-student/multi-class selection feature to the House Points module. With recent revisions of the platform, this revised module does not work and I had hoped that you would have incorporated this feature into your version of the module. Even in a school with 200 students, let alone 1000 students, it is annoying to add points to individual students who earn points through participation in form/class projects. Please, please update the module to include this time-saving feature.

Once again, many thanks for the sterling work you have done and shared with us.
Andy Richards (Head of ICT - British Collegiate, Turks & Caicos).

Hi @stdavsurfer18
Thank you for your questions. For the hook error and the ATL module error, it has been fixed in the latest versions but have not been published at the Gibbon Extend page. Once the latest versions are published, please update your module and the issues should be resolved.

The Student Alerts module is a core module so it should be installed while updating Gibbon. Could you please share a screenshot of the error you are seeing? Also, could you please confirm if you are using Cutting Edge Code or just regular code from GitHub to update gibbon? These can help us to further narrow the issue and find a fix.

I can understand how the multi-student selection can be helpful in the House Points module. We have added it to our development list and hopefully should be updated in the upcoming version. Thank you.

Hi Ali,
I would have thought that all the files in version 30 (downloaded from Gibbon Edu) would be part of the update process. Nevertheless, here is the error.

As I said, it is not a critical error for us: behavioural issues are minimal, and neither parents nor students access the platform.

I have since encountered a database error with the Attendance module that you may be able to help with. I can view historical data, but I cannot change it. The module seems to cycle when I click on a student’s attendance history. The system did record a student’s absence for tomorrow, and I will check if the entry is there. I will also see if teachers can register attendance tomorrow. I do stress that I am on a shared host, and I used their converter to migrate to MySQL 8. Can you also confirm what collation should be used with the new MYSQL database? At the moment, it is utfmb3_general_ci.

Thanks for your time.
Andy

Hi Ali,

A quick update. It appears that the conversion tool on the web host may have caused issues with the database. I created a new database file and uploaded the data directly to it. Everything seems to be okay, and the Student Alerts module is also showing up on the Pastoral tab. Tomorrow will be the litmus test.

Thanks.
Andy.

Hi @stdavsurfer18
I am glad to inform you that the multi-student selection feature for awarding points in the House Points Module has been added back. Please install the latest version House Points. I hope that helps. Thanks.
