Hi,
Great Choice! I am currently hosting on Hostinger, and so far, it has been easy to use. When you sign u for Hostinger, you are creating a website, and they will give you the option to choose your domain name, but you are not using WordPress, you are uploading your PHP site.
Currently, I use the Premium Web hosting Site (and that’s enough for a small to medium-sized school), but you can go up if you need more space.
Server: PHP 7.4+ (Gibbon supports up to PHP 8.3) and MySQL 5.7+ / MariaDB (MySQL 8.0 recommended)
-
Pick a PHP version & enable extensions
-
hPanel → your Website → Dashboard → PHP Configuration
-
Create the database & user
-
hPanel → Databases → MySQL Databases → Create.
Then upload the Gibbon Files and run the web installer.
Hostinger offers Dark web monitoring to keep your site off of unwanted sites.
Tips:
-
Make sure your database name has Gibbon in the name to make it easier to connect
-
If the Installer won’t load / white screen, try using the files straight from Gibbon instead of Github
-
Hostinger has SSH access if you use a terminal, but you’ll have to enable it first to use it.(I made that mistake)
I think that’s all I have for now, but if you have any questions, I will be happy to help.
