Gradebook calculations

I want to confirm: Calculations in the mark/gradebook will only work on Percentage type columns? What about if I create my own numeric grade scale? (I created one with values 1 - 10)? I tried that but that did not work.

The only calculation that worked for me is Percentage.
We created our own Percentage-system (0-100%) with new gradings. That worked good for us.

The german-grading-system(1-6) wasnt working.
