Courses and Classes

Hi guys,

I’m not a teacher so this may see like a silly question. Based on the Demo data i noticed that classes are made up by year groups example. Y1eng Y2eng, etc and then each can contain different form groups for the classes.

Is that best or would it simple to say ENG and assign to all year groups then assign each from group to that course?

rprice1978, there is no such thing as a silly question! You can assign all students into a single large class, but they you cannot time table them into separate rooms at different times (which is something we do), nor easily distinguish, without referring to form group some how.

The case you suggest is actually not the norm in the demo data, but rather only accounts for about 40% of the classes. Many classes feature a mix of students from different form groups.

Hope this helps,

Ross

 Thanks Ross.
