Best practice for IBDP Higher Level and Standard Level

Hi,
May I ask how other schools are approaching Higher Level/Standard Level for International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP) classes with Gibbon?
At our small school we teach both HL and SL students together in the same class at the same time, with the same teacher. Sometimes, we send SL students away on private study if we are covering HL content. Our current SIS is set up that there is a HL class and an SL class scheduled for the same time, and they are populated with the respective HL or SL students. This is so that the correct course and level is reported in the student’s transcripts. I know ManageBac can have one class where you can then select which level a student is following, but I don’t think that is available in Gibbon.

So, my question is what are other schools doing to manage this?

Thanks,
Steve.

Hi Steve,

Yes, I work with and support a number of schools with IB, and they use the second method you mention, where the HL and SL classes are separate, but often timetabled in the same room with the same teacher. This allows teachers to track the markbook and assessments separately for the courses, which is helpful. Also, HL can sometimes have more classes per week than SL, so this gives the freedom to timetable them as needed.
