Under the SUMMARY is there a way to view the numbers term by term and not just for the whole year?

Total number of school days to date: 94
Total number of school days attended: 78
Total number of school days absent: 1

Currently that view only gives a total for the year to date. The Attendance Summary by Date has a date range option which can give you more specific breakdowns of student attendance by date and also by different types.
