Hi, Ross. I have a question about setup password in Gibbon. Now we are creating the account for parents. The CSV import file seems do have field to setup password. For security reason, we don’t want to set them a default password. Is there any method to input user’s password in CSV file? I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.
Mr. Kwan,
If you do not set a default password, Gibbon will assign a random password for each user, and these will be output with the username on the results page. You can then copy and paste these into a spreadsheet, massage and use. You might, for example, want to then mail marge to make letters for parents.
Does this help?
Ross
Mr. Kwan,
After meeting today, and understanding your logic, I have coded this into Gibbon v11. The fix should be backwards compatible to v10, so you can try and upload this file into your /modules/User Admin director:
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/GibbonEdu/core/9d9969f18749d4bb5ff0046e46b15c75facb684b/modules/User%20Admin/import_users.php
Please note that Name in Characters, which had been tacked onto the end of the import, is now in its correct position under Official Name, so you may need to update your import format. The v11 sample import file is now available at:
https://gibbonedu.org/support/administrators/importing-users-into-gibbon/
I hope this helps get your users into the system.
Thanks,
Ross
