# Permission

Hi Ross,

I am still having a problem making any adjustment in the “Permission Module”. &nbsp;When I select the option an press the submit button i get this:You do not have access to this action. Then I am thrown out of my admin dashboard and this appears: ![](http://i66.tinypic.com/2im5ke8.jpg)&nbsp;If I logout and login I am still unable to access my admin dashboard. I then have to restore backup to get back to my admin dashboard.&nbsp;

Can you look into this?

I am still mystified by this, and convinced it must be a server config issue of some kind or another. No one else has reported this since we put in the protection of checking max\_input\_vars before deciding whether or not to display the Submit button, and that was at least 12 months ago.  
  
To try and get more information, can you please edit /modules/User Admin/permission\_manageProcess.php and go to end of line 51, insert a new line, and paste this into the new line:  
  
print ini\_get(“max\_input\_vars”) . “  
  
” ;  
print count($\_POST) . “  
  
” ;  
print\_r($\_POST) ; print “  
  
” ;  
exit() ;  
  
The press the Submit button on Manage Permissions, copy the output and paste it here for us to see.  
  
As a reminder, what kind of server are you using? Can you give us the contents of you php.ini file?

Willpro, it seems that whilst you are setting max\_input\_vars=5000, the effective value of max\_input\_vars is 1000. This means that most of your permissions are not making it through to the process file, and so are not getting saved. I would really recommend you speak to your hosting company, and ask them how you can increase max\_input\_vars so that the system reads it as 5000.  
  
As I mentioned, there is supposed to be protection against this on the interface page for permissions, and so given your setup, you should not even see the Submit button, but I am not sure why this is not working for you.

&nbsp;You were correct. It was my host problem. I told them the problem as you stated and they rectified the problem, so i am good to go.
