I went a different route and got different outcomes that did not include the assessment, I created the unit, then assigned the unit to dates (screenshot 1) then I can edit my lesson (screenshot 2) now if i goto lesson planner (screen shot 3) i can edit the lesson plan and add homework submissions but get no assessment option (screen shot 4) or ability to add to markbook?
how do i add assessment doing it this way? should I be able to do so?
Yes, the workflow is different if you create lessons on an ad-hoc basis, compared to when using smart blocks via the unit planner. Not ideal I know.
The solution, if you create your lessons from the unit planner, and then want to tie them to the Markbook, is to go to the Markbook, add a new column, and then tie it in to the lesson and or unit from there. The end result is exactly the same, it is just that the process is somewhat different.
I see what you mean but it seems when I do it that way, in the planner it doesnt show the linked markbook (in my example they venetian project has a linked markbook but the one created as above Coding does not show it). Did I miss something?
That is odd, and I can’t recreate what you are seeing from my end (e.g., it is working normally). Can you provide me with a screenshot of the edit view of the Markbook column that links to the Coding 4 lesson?
That is interesting, as it looks correctly set up.
If you go to Unit Planner and edit the Coding unit, is it enabled for the class in question? Look under the Classes section: the Running fields should be set to Yes. If the unit is not running for the class it should not be selectable in the Markbook view, but there might be a bug in that code.
Oh, looking again, it seems the top class is working fine…but the second and third will not work as they currently have no lessons. You can see the first lesson date indicates this. Does that explain what you are seeing? If you add lessons, does the behaviour change? Ross
