Today, I had a quick look at the import family function. Wow, this is something! One may have suffered to get all users into Gibbon. How about the families?
At first glance, migrating families into Gibbon is a rather high hurdle. It involves preparing 3 csv files and the relationship between child and adult is not yet covered, right?
How best do I go about migrating families more efficiently?
It all depends on what format your data is in. The import you see came about because we originally imported from a system that structured data in this way, and so it was relatively painless.
Tell us more about your family data, and we will see if we can help.
I was able to import the families as well. It wasn’t painless, but it worked finally. The hurdle appears bigger maybe also due to lack of documentation and missing template files with sample data.
I did a little code hacking to allow independent csv file imports, e.g. family adults only. Plus I added a fourth csv file covering the relationships.
Please let me know if you are interested in any code or template files. It think, it would be good to make template files with real sample data available.
