Gibbon uses gettext() to perform translated string replacements, but in some Apache/PHP installs it is not enabled by default. The best bet is to do some online research to look at how to install GetText on your platform.
The gettext function used by Gibbon is _(), which we've wrapped in __().
Let us know how you get on.
Hi dgago, at ICHK we use Meet The Teacher, which is an external service. There is a Gibbon module that passes MTT the relevant data, and offers parents single sign-on. Email their support team and mention Gibbon, and they can help you get started. I'm tagging their brilliant support guy @jimbo8098 here, as he might follow up as well. Cheers, Ross.
Hi dgago, it looks, from "Synchronous XMLHttpRequest on the main thread is deprecated" that our older version of thickbox might not be compatible with the very latest version of Chrome. This is the first we've heard of this though. @sandra, our maintainer, is going to look into this next week. In the meantime, could you try and older version of Chrome, and perhaps the current version of Firefox to see if you get a different result? Thanks! Ross.
As of v17, we've unified all imports (except photos, as you note, and timetables which are coming) under Admin > System Admin > Import From File. This is based on the import tools that @sandra built into her very handy Data Admin tool, which she put together for her own school's migration. This new functionality is far less fiddly than the old approach, is extensible, and supports the automatic creation of temporary files. A huge leap forward. Let us know how you get on with it.
PS, the photo import can save a lot of time!
Data Updater does indeed meet your requests, particularly as of v16, in which Sandra added a Data Updater dashboard, as well as some tools for redirecting parents to update at the start of the year.
Updates can be created by parents, and an admin is then notified so that they can vet the changes and then merge them into the relevant records.
Does this help, or do you require more detail?
In terms of address as a required field, can you tell me more, and perhaps provide a screenshot?
